The Many Theories of the JFK Assassination Introduction There are many theories that have been introduced to people surrounding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The assassination of the 35th President of the United States, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, occurred on November 22, 1963. Kennedy was fatally shot while riding in the presidential limousine through the streets of Dallas, Texas. The projectile that struck his head shattered the right side of his skull. During an interview with the Detroit Free Press (2013), a former secret service agent named Clint Hill recalled his actions moments after the shooting. President Lyndon B. Johnson created the Warren Commission to investigate the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The final report presented by the commission claimed that Lee Harvey Oswald acte d alone in killing the president. (Wikipedia, 2013). This report has proven to be highly controversial among citizens. There have been many theories as to who killed Kennedy, why they did it, and from what location. There are some theories that are more prominent than others such as: The CIA, The Mafia, The anti-Castro Cubans, a man from the Secret Service, and Lee Harvey Oswald. There are other theories believing that Lyndon B. Johnson and UFO specialists may have been involved. Each one of these theories will be explored throughout this paper. The CIA Involvement Theory The CIAââ¬â¢s involvement in the killing of JFK is one of the popular theories put forward by conspiracy theorists. President Kennedy was said to have told an official in his administration, ââ¬Å"I want to splinter the CIA into a thousand pieces and scatter it to the windsâ⬠(McGovern, 2013, para. 3). Many of the individuals who disliked Kennedy believed he was the reason for the failed Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961. They also believed that he would reduce the size of the military industrial complex and that he was not going after communism hard enough.
